The Heavy Rotation // Vol. 7 - It Started With a Beat...

Monday, February 22, 2016

Happy Music Monday!

For today's post, I wanted to shed light on these three tracks that
share a similar sound, and, while I often get confuse them for one another,
I find that each one does house it's own unique flavor...

#1 Nujabes - "Arurian Dance"

Homework edits are a god-send! I discovered them a few weeks ago when I was looking up Dilla tracks. Homework edits are pretty much hour + long loops of your favorite beat!
And honestly there are so many songs I could listen to for hours on end, ESPECIALLY when I'm trying to mellow out after a stressful day or trying to power through a task at home or work.

(it's not a perfect homework edit since the pitch has
been lowered - copyright nonsense -  but it's still amazing!)

#2 Ol Burger Beats - "Immaculate"

Curious to hear the original version with lyrics? "Immaculate" feat. ScienZe  // High Rhodes LP

#3 Soulastik - "Purple Autumn"

I found this gem while listening to a jazz/hip hop mix on Youtube, and luckily, the information was in the description, so it didn't take me long to find out where to listen to/buy it.

Which of the three versions is your favorite?
I'm not sure I could choose a favorite, although the Nujabes joint goes on repeat often... so...
Honestly, I'd love to hear a mashup/mix of all three.

Till next time.

Celebrating 28 Earth Years

Thursday, February 18, 2016

Three weeks ago, I celebrated my 28th birthday! And it might have very well been one of the best so far. I was able to accomplish everything I set out to do this birthday weekend and had an amazing time with the people I truly love ( and really what more could you ask for? ).

I know it's been awhile since I last posted, so I wanted to make sure I got a chance to at least share a few photos from my birthday with you all.

Check out the birthday manicure!

I got it done out on Long Island, NY at a nail salon called Cinderella Nail Spa. A wonderful nail technician, Maggie, hooked me up with the cutest design, hand-painted!

I usually frequent a location in midtown Manhattan (Bijou Nails), but this is a great alternative for those weeks when I'm in desperate need of a new coat of paint but don't want to trek it all the way out to the city.

I chose this design because 1) I love teddy bears 2) Hello Kitty loves teddy bears 3) Doesn't it remind you of Kanye?

What do you guys think?
I love it, but I'm still hoping to try Japanese calgel next month...

I finally made it out to the Moustache Brewing Co. tasting room!

I've had my eye on this brewery for awhile now (since before they had a tasting room to call their own) and now... look at them! I was super excited when my boyfriend agreed to take me out east (Riverhead, NY) to check out the brewery!
