LIFE: Christmas Parties

Wednesday, November 30, 2011

Office Christmas parties were once a thing of MadMen and now it's a part of my life.

I'm pretty damn excited about attending a few of these this year including the one at my own office. Tomorrow kicks off most Christmas office parties - this one is being thrown in downtown Manhattan.  I'm quite excited to debut a new dress I've been saving up and quite conveniently I'm already rocking my favorite candy apple red nail polish - Score!

Anyone else attending any [office] Christmas parties this year?

Wouldn't you agree, the number of holiday parties you attend grows exponentially as you get older - I love it!

MUSIC: The Black Keys // El Camino

Tuesday, November 29, 2011

So the one week countdown to the new album.
I'm [im]patiently waiting for information on the release party in NYC next week on December 5th - since they'll be in the NYC area they are planning on doing several appearances on late night television, so definitely tune in for all of those. In the meantime check out these 5 songs they released for stream early.

I have to say that of the five, "Sister" is my favorite with "Run Right Back" in second place.

MUSIC: Turntables For Vinyls

Tuesday, November 22, 2011

Check out this beauty.

I've been looking to invest in a turntable for quite some time because I plan on buying quite a few vinyls in the future. I'm really liking this one I saw on BEST BUY 's website because it's not only a turntable but it's also a cassette player and radio. Did I mention the audio input for mp3 players? Yeah, I'm thinking for $100 this one isn't half bad and I'm not going to lie, I'm loving the vintage radio design.

Yes I am sold. Anyone else looking to buy or already own a turntable? Any recommendations on others that would be good? I need to probably do more research before I decide.

MUSIC: Lip-syncing Contest

Monday, November 21, 2011

Little sister asked that I share this with you.
Her dorm floor has an annual lip-syncing contest. The videos are posted online and the video with the most views wins, so check it out and if you think this is laugh at worthy, share it.

This really makes me miss college.

MUSIC: Korea's DJ Soulscape

They caught me on camera! - 4:09
( Check out the article on Hypetrak

A few weeks ago I got a chance to experience a little bit of Korean funk at the DJ Soulscape event.  The homeboy @shavedheadasian passed along the invite. Soulscape created such a great atomsphere out of music that most of the people in attendance had never heard before. It was a great place to socialize with other music lovers. It takes listening to a great DJ to realize how spinning is really supposed to sound.

I encourage you guys to check out some of DJ Soulscape's music via his Myspace and follow him on Twitter!

TV/MUSIC: GLEE Loves Adele

Monday, November 14, 2011

Today I stumbled across this video while I was dabbling in the Youtube-sphere looking for somewhere to procrastinate.

I haven't watched Glee past the first season, but this has given me inspiration to start watching the second season this week.
I love the mash up of these two Adele songs ~ beautiful <3

FOOD: SPRINKLE BAKE'S Pumpkin Cheesecake

( Photo: Sprinkle Bakes )
I love the Fall. It's my favorite season because it kick starts the countdown to all of the best holidays. Let's not forget all the other great things like going to fashion shows, dressing in layers, and eating lots of pumpkin dishes!

A few weeks ago I learned about the Sprinkle Bakes website via DropDeadKawaii and I saw the recipe for this Pumpkin Cheesecake on there -- this is definitely something I want to try out with my mother one of these weekends when it decides to snow/hail/rain again.
The whole site is just dessert heaven and of course there's beautiful pictures of each dishes just like the one above.  Professional cookbook status in my eyes :}
For those interested here is the recipe for the PUMPKIN CHEESECAKE.

Cheers to a happy November!

MUSIC: Drake's Take Care Album 2011

Wednesday, November 9, 2011

Have you heard it yet? I know I've been patiently waiting and I'm excited to finish my first run through of the CD.

Take a listen and let me know what you think.
As always remember to support the music you like and purchase your copy legit.

MUSIC: Music for Shopping

Went to the GAP last week before work to check out some of the sales and I heard this song in the store.
Granted, I hated having to listen to the same songs on repeat for months on end - BUT Gap Inc. does pick some pretty damn good songs sometimes.

If our musical tastes are similar, you'll definitely love this.

BOOKS: New DC 52 Issue #3 Release Dates

Earlier today I was discussing the collecting of the New 52 comics and I came across the question of value in terms of first prints vs. reprints.

This really pushes me to want to collect as many first print editions of all of the comics that I buy so that the value will be at its highest -- not that I really ever plan on selling these (I'm collecting them for my cool unborn child, lol) but it's always nice to know you have valuable assets like these.

I need to make sure that I'm there when the #3 issues hit the shelves because I'd rather get a first print.
I will say that I'm not going to shell out $12 to bid for these on ebay however, to be honest, I just really love reading the stories. I'm not collecting these for the money ...

But what do you all think? Does any of this first print vs. reprint business matter to you?

For those interested, here is the link for the  #3 ISSUE RELEASE DATES

LIFE: Djimon Hounsou

There's this weakness I have for boxer briefs and even more so when they're filled with a handsome man.

Djimon Hounsou is loverman material  -- no doubt!

Enjoy the eye candy ;}
