ART: Prisma Color Love.

Tuesday, May 31, 2011

(rotated images coming soon)

Today, I pulled out my prisma color colored pencils and blew the dust off them - opened my sketch pad and laid some color out on an empty page. I think it's time I set some time aside for art; the on-coming summer is going to be a great daily inspiration.

MUSIC: Rockabye Kanye!

Thursday, May 26, 2011

Cubicle-mate brought this back after lunch - We tried listening to the whole thing but after the 5th song, we were ready to knock out.

I'm going to have to buy these CDs for my little one in the future :3

LIFE: Lady GaGa Visits 106 & Park

Look, it's Lady Goo Goo - haha.

Lady GaGa came to 106 & Park the other day - it was my first time visiting the studio since the launch of the App, it was really nice to finally get a chance to watch the hustle and bustle behind the stage.

Lady GaGa seemed extremely genuine on and off stage - her outfit of course was nothing short of unique, especially her crazy tall platform shoes...

I might not get a chance to go back for awhile, but I'd definitely love to go back :) The chaos backstage can be a bit much sometimes, but I loved the energy!

MUSIC: Sampled vs. Remixed

Thursday, May 19, 2011

When I first heard J Lo's hit "On the Floor" as much as I enjoyed it, I craved the original song that it recalled from deep within my childhood memory and it only prompted me to go to youtube just so I could listen to it and satisfy the want. Then a few weeks later I heard this Don Omar song "Taboo" that used pieces of the original song and I find that listening to this gives me the best of both new and old.

Personally I enjoyed the remixed version of the song and it may be that native Spanish speakers (or even Spanish-preferring peoples) will enjoy the Don Omar version better.

You tell me. Which one do you like better?

FASHION: The very essential Nude Trench Coat.

This is probably the best outer clothing investment this year.

Spring, especially Spring 2011, is a time of fluctuating crazy weather. Cold, rainy, warm, humid, hot, cloudy...
The trench coat is perfect since it's a light outer layer which allows you to dress in as many or as little layers as you want.

Nude is a great color for spring because it goes well with a lot of colors and doesn't clash. Sure trench coats come in other darker colors, but the point of Spring and Summer fashion is to wear brighter, lighter colors.

I really wanted a trench coat to go with my dresses, especially my ASOS dress... I love how this outfit came out.

Dress: ASOS
Shoes: ALDOS
Tights: H&M
Coat: H&M

LIFE: Soy echa de coco y maracuya.

Tuesday, May 17, 2011

I'm one part Dominican Coconut and one part Ecuadorian Passion Fruit  - That'll explain why I'm such a sweet nut! (What a combo!)

I went into Whole Foods the other day with my coworker and buddy Julissa and we hit up the gelato area before we went out to kill our pain at this amazing hidden tiki bar in the Lower East Side.

Definitely had a blast afterwards with Julissa and Darly - best drink of the night? Hands down the "Jamaican Divorce" - can you imagine what a mess you'll be after one of those? (Yes, all puns intended).

As a random side note I've been listening to a lot of Ghanaian music which my friend Chris can tell you I've bombarded him with, so why not do it to you on here? Enjoy.

MUSIC: Guilty Pleasures "Blow"!

Monday, May 16, 2011

This is my guilty pleasure - I know I talked so much trash about Ke$ha but I love this song and I can see myself dancing to this tomorrow morning when I'm getting ready for work.

Enjoy the catchiness.

MUSIC: The "Good Man" Raphael Saadiq

Tuesday, May 10, 2011

Have you heard of Raphael Saadiq? He dresses like a modern day Chuck Barry and he's got that old soulfully blues sound - he's stolen my Billie Holiday-influenced heart <3

Listen to his new album "Stone Rollin" free on
Favorite songs so far "Good Man", "Radio", "Go To Hell", "Day Dreams" & "Moving Down The Line"
I need to buy this album and a poster of this hunk <3

LIFE: Sometimes it's sour.

Why can't this be standard practice on milk cartons? It should tell us when it's no longer fresh so that I don't have to go through what I did this morning.
I got into the office, made myself a hot chocolate (with hot water) and added some milk for a creamier taste. I even found some whipped cream in the fridge and put a dash of that on top -- and then? I go to taste my hot drink and find that it's got a bit of a funky taste and I take another sip before I decide to smell the milk . . . SOUR MILK! W T F! Oh God, it was such a turn off that I decided to make myself some tea.

Maybe it was God's way of saying "Hey yo, fatty! Don't you have a weight loss challenge you're trying to lose weight for? Yeah, that's right. No chocolate caliente for you!"

Lesson learned.

On the up side, I'm looking well put together today~

LIFE: Batman hates coconuts

Monday, May 9, 2011

Wow, really? ... I'm really wondering if @_atomsk is secretly @God_Damn_Batman.

I don't do Outfit Of The Day posts very often, but I was really feeling my whole ensemble this morning.
So here it is - Allergy Monday outfit.

It's not as chilly as I dressed up for, but I didn't have to strip any of my layers this morning either. The damn wind in New York City is not only circulating the pollen in the air, it's also killing the warm weather and making the nights feel like we're in the middle of March - no bueno.

GAP jacket, GAP sweater, UNIQLO jeans, ALDO shoes, Italian scarf (<3)

I'm ready for spring to come and stay - this fluctuating weather is keeping New Yorkers in the grouch.

FOOD: eating healthy

Thursday, May 5, 2011

I entered a weight loss challenge at work recently. I've been making minor, but important adjustments to what I eat and what I do. Today's salad tastes amazing!
Guac, corn salsa, carrots, oven roasted chicken, vinegar, and greens.
$350 for first place? You know what that means! Shoes, shoes shoes.

I weighed in a week and a half ago - now I'm normally not cool with putting it out there, but I know it'll only get better from here so here we go. 195 lbs (including shoes, pants, etc) So that's the starting point and I'd love to be at 175lbs by the time July rolls around. Let's see what happens : )

More later.

MUSIC: Mr. Saxobeat

Tuesday, May 3, 2011

I really love this song. I've heard it quite often in La Mega mixes.
This is going to be one of my favorite songs this summer - I just want to dance every time I hear it.
